New Horizons: Life in Transition

Life is all about transition. Some transitions are good, and some are bad. Some we get to control and some we do not. In fact, it has been a while since I created an article here because I have been in a huge transition, starting a new full-time day job back in early June. In this new venture, my whole schedule has had to change. My normal routines and way of doing things had to adjust greatly. My sleep schedule is now different. My windows for ministry have had to adjust due to having a new daily schedule that is dictated to me. Free time… well, what is that? In all seriousness though, as we go through life, we will all face transitions. Most people do not like change. The older I get, the more I resist it! Change can be challenging. I do not like change because I like consistency. I like to know what I can expect in my day. I like to have more control, and control does not bode well with change.

I imagine in the past few years, and especially the past few months, most people in the modern world have had to deal with a lot of change. As I scroll through social media each day, I see many people in transition. Some have relationships that have changed drastically. Some have a major shift in their jobs and career path. Others have made bold and even necessary adjustments to their living situation. I can only imagine that COVID-19 and its societal impact (regardless of what your take on it is) has been largely responsible for many of the transitions taking place in our lives. I know that most folks have not really had a choice in the matter, and that can be very difficult on our emotions and psyche. Some have been able to react to the “plandemic” and have pulled up stake and have begun great new adventures. I can only imagine that right now many of you reading this article are planning to do the same.

I cannot say what your personal situation is currently. I know what mine is. I can attest that my family and I are doing the best we can to roll with the punches. I don’t know if you are a person of faith in the Creator or not, but I would like to spend the last few lines of this entry encouraging you to either re-affirm your faith and trust in the Most High, or give him serious consideration for the first time. The Bible gives much encouragement for when people go through difficult transitions that rock their world. The Father in Heaven knows what is going on. He cares greatly about you! He wants the best for you and has put a plan in motion to help you through life’s most difficult times of transition. I will leave you with some encouragement from His Word. May you be blessed as you continue in this most challenging era of the world’s existence.

“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” (Isaiah 43:2)

This is a promise for those who are in covenant with the Living God. Are you in covenant with him? It is the path to true blessing and comfort.  Be encouraged!
