POTP Article February 2020

Truth is powerful. Truth is the antidote to lies and deception. Truth is dangerous to those who seek to suppress it. Truth is what sets us free from our adversary’s grip and from the world’s influence. Truth must be shared with others in order to have its possible effect. There are so many enemies of truth in our modern age. The road to truth is paved with many obstacles; there are many evil individuals who will attack it at and try to highjack it. Truth speaking is a dangerous business. Those who speak it become a target of those who hate it.

The purpose of this blog article is not to discourage anyone from sharing truth, but rather to help us understand and count the cost. The goal of this article is that the reader will be prepared for the task and have the perseverance needed to succeed in the mission! The ultimate truth is the Word of God. The Creator’s wisdom and power is supreme. All other “truths” are competing with the legitimate. This competition is what brings opposition to those who speak truth.

In John 8:31-32, Jesus said to his disciples… “If you stay in my word you are truly my disciples and you shall KNOW the Truth and the TRUTH shall make you FREE.” Truth can be known. Truth makes us free, i.e., it liberates us from enslavement due to lies and deception. Ultimately, truth brings us to understanding salvation in Jesus Christ the Messiah and Savior of the world.

An excerpt of Luke 14:27 highlights the importance of bearing our cross for truth. In the community of truth we reside in, the true nature of the creation is hugely important to know and share. According to Colossians chapter 1, Jesus is the Creator of it all. The “global lie” is so powerful and is one of the foundational deceptions in our world that seeks to hide the true creation and the true Creator! This is why it is so important for us in the know – the awakened ones – to get the message out. We must, however, again count the cost. We must understand how speaking these and other truths boldly will bring us under scrutiny and even attack!

For who of you wanting to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether his possessions will finish it?” “Otherwise when he has laid the foundation, and is unable to finish it, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, “This man began to build and was unable to finish.” (Luke 14:27-30). Another piece of the cost puzzle is understanding who we are up against. Who are the enemies of truth that influence the world and its physical powers? (Ephesians 6:10-18) tells us of the spiritual “powers that be” and the battle that is before us and behind the physical realm that we see.

When you go with the flow vs. swim against the stream there is a big difference in the response! When we play by the world’s rules and don’t rock the boat we are rewarded and even afforded certain benefits and protections. We are given sense of community that brings with it a false sense of peace and well-being. When we speak the truths which oppose the philosophy of the world and the powers that be, we are singled out, ridiculed and even attacked. Many of us have experienced difficulties such as the loss of a job, conflict in relationships, and even spiritual pressure and onslaughts.

We must remember that there are blessings that come from sharing truth! 1) We partner with the Creator in his working of truth in the world. 2) We help free those who are in bondage to the lies in society. 3) We become awakened to the nature of the spiritual forces that are working in the physical world and how to combat them for good. In the modern age of deceit, those of truth must march forward! Be of good courage. Do not grow weary in your mission. Those who speak truth will pay a price, but it will all be worth it!
